This nice and small university town is almost 750 years old and has a lot to offer to it’s inhabitants (35.000) as well as it’s visitors. The large number of students(6000) contributes to a lively , young and informal atmosphere.
The town is beautifully situated on the border of the river Rhine, surrounded by a variety of natural areas. The town itself offers many bars and pubs, restaurants, a theatre and a cinema.
The region around Wageningen is nationally known as Food Valley because it has Wageningen University and Researchcentre as well as several other important international food (and foodscience) related companies within her borders.
Besides Wageningen is well known for it’s prominent role in the Dutch memorial day and liberation day celebrations.
